Green Hairstreak Butterfly

I have found encouraging signs regarding butterfly species over the last weekend. Certainly better than last year anyway. I will post the various species I have found over the next few days.

The first one here is the Green Hairstreak. Not the easiest of species to see as for obvious reasons.
They are green and also very small and unless they move from one perch to the next then you have to be lucky to spot them.

  1. These are great Roy.
This is one butterfly I've yet to see.

Like you, I've noticed a lot more butterflies around so far this year; especially Brimstone.

    1. Thanks Keith, they are not easy to pick out amongst the green leaves.
Having found a place in previous years where they hang out, then I am able to pinpoint the search.

They are all lovely, but that last one looks like I feel after working outside all, about ready to just
keel over and lay down!! ; )

  7. I'm just jealous Roy, because this butterfly I would also love to capture. For several years he sits on one of islands incompetent and that's Texel. Very cool that you do have to spot him know. Really great!
