I have found encouraging signs regarding butterfly species over the last weekend. Certainly better than last year anyway. I will post the various species I have found over the next few days.
The first one here is the Green Hairstreak. Not the easiest of species to see as for obvious reasons.
They are green and also very small and unless they move from one perch to the next then you have to be lucky to spot them.
These are great Roy.
ReplyDeleteThis is one butterfly I've yet to see.
Like you, I've noticed a lot more butterflies around so far this year; especially Brimstone.
Thanks Keith, they are not easy to pick out amongst the green leaves.
DeleteHaving found a place in previous years where they hang out, then I am able to pinpoint the search.
You got some nice clear shots of this little beauty, Roy!! Check out those antennas!
ReplyDeleteThanks Karen.
DeleteWell found Roy...great images...[;o)
ReplyDeleteThanks Trevor.

ReplyDeleteLovely images Roy, I love the shots of the Hairstreak on the Garlic Mustard :-) Looking forward to more of your butterfly shots over the next few days :-)

DeleteHey Roy... These are stunning of the Green Hairstreak!! How wonderful to have the lovely atmosphere to photo it in ; )
ReplyDeleteThey are all lovely, but that last one looks like I feel after working outside all, about ready to just
keel over and lay down!! ; )

Thanks GG.
DeleteI'm just jealous Roy, because this butterfly I would also love to capture. For several years he sits on one of islands incompetent and that's Texel. Very cool that you do have to spot him know. Really great!
ReplyDeleteThanks Helma.
DeleteLovely photos Roy. The camouflage is incredible!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jan.
DeleteA lovely little butterfly, shown to perfection by your shots Roy! Are they in the same place as last year? Maybe I will manage a photo this time! ;)
