Weed Dancing

I came upon this display of a pair of Great Crested Grebe and wasn't ready for it.
The dance itself lasts a few seconds so I had to rely on the camera setting I already had available.
It didn't help that the sun was behind the subjects either. I hung around for a while, but there was no repeat performance unfortunately

  1. Great sequence Roy, It's a shame that wildlife has no thought for us struggling photographers when they're engrossed in their nuptials!!...[;o)

  3. Well captured Roy! A great sequence. It is a lovely thing to witness which all too often fizzles out before it really starts.

  5. It's quite normal for them to do this here using the weeds Nora.

  6. Hi Roy

I always enjoy photo showing the birds actual behaviour. This is a great series of shots. And to think we get by with the ocassional movie or box of chocolates.

  9. Wonderful! You were probably a lot more prepared then most of us would have been and your shots prove it! I would love to see this happen in real life. They look so funny with the weeds draped on their bills.
