Snowdrops Reviewed

I went to revisit the large Snowdrop patch in the Parkland.
They are well out in full bloom and in fact are almost past there best now.

Lumix GX1. 12-35 f2.8 lens. 1/640 at f6.3. - 35mm(70). ISO160

A couple of shots in Soft Focus
I'm not sure it works so well with white as the prominent colour.

  5. Hi Roy, for me the 'normal' pictures are much better to look at than the soft focus. But I think it is a very personal matter, what you like the best or don't like. I saw your painting as well, and it is also beautiful.
Nice to see these large fields of Snowdrops, although it starts to flower in winter it still gives me a feeling of spring.

    Regards,
    Marianne

    1. Thanks Marianne,
I'm not sure about the soft focus, especially with anything white.
Its OK with some subjects, but as you say its a personal thing.

  9. They really are such a welcome sight Roy and always look lovely en masse. Let's hope they're not covered in snow next week, it seems we are returning to wintry weather!

  11. It would be wonderful to have a whole yard of those....so pretty and the first sign of hope for spring coming soon! I have one tiny little patch of them. They seem to last a long time. Gorgeous detail shots of them.

  12. What a beautiful patch of Snowdrops Roy :-) I think I prefer the normal shots but the soft focus ones are interesting too, though perhaps a tad too soft for my liking, but as others have written this is of course a matter of personal taste.

  13. have you tried taking any black and whits shots of snowdrops? have to admit I haven't, but thinking they may look quite good. I think the soft photos will make good greeting cards.

Yes I think there is a place for Soft Focus for certain subjects.
