A Horse Day

Its a while since I have had a Horse Day.

As it was something like minus 5 degrees celsius, some of them in the field certainly needed their coats.
I found them all either standing or lying under a hedge sheltering from the freezing cold North Easterly wind. Behind the hedge was a thick line of trees and bushes so they really had chosen the best place in the field.

I have photographed most of these horses before. This one has an unusual left eye.
This is quite normal and nothing wrong as some horses have this.

  3. Hi Roy

You captured some beautiful faces in this post. This is a very nice compliment to your cow days.

  4. I can admire them from a distance Roy! (-: Horses and cow don't agree with me if I'm in the same field as you know! (-; That chestnut one with the white blaze is especially cute I have to say!

  5. Hey Roy...it has been some time since you have hard a horse post!!
One thing I noticed is that some have better hair days then others ; )!
The one laying down needs a good trim, I hate hair in my face and eyes, well some don't have that problem! Looks odd on the last one the lack of hair on its chest, and the rest long..looks chilly! Never heard of the eye thing before!!
Glad that they have coats on!!
    Nice face photos !!

  7. The horses are lovely and your shots great Roy! In this kind of weather it's good they have much 'fur' and blankets. The'll need it these days, and so do we (blankets I mean, not fur). The first horse picture I like the most although they are all beautiful. In Holland we call this kind of eye a 'moon-eye' (really don't know why).

    Kind regards,
    Marianne

  9. Lovely pictures, the horses field looks like its well daining, the fields here where I live are sodden and I see poor horses standing in mud, the ground churned up and very wet. An RSPCA van was outside one particular field that is really bad and has three horses in it, that was a month ago and the three horses are still in this soggy field. It can't be good for them to be standing in fields that are so soggy.

    1. Thanks Lyn, yes it cannot be good for them.
These are well looked after and have only recently been put out there in that field.
It was under water about a month ago.

    1. Thanks Kathie, I don't know much about horses, but I don't think these are welsh ponies.
