There are normally a few Black-tailed Godwit to be seen at Lodmoor Reserve, Weymouth throughout the year.
A visit on a very cold and windy day this week revealed an increased flock (Icelandic I think), all of which were in a early Summer plumage.
There were also some still in Winter plumage colour.
The wind caused the flock to take flight suddenly on several occasions around the Reserve.
Thankfully still close enough to get some shots of this colourful photogenic species.
I noticed that there was one bird that was feeding on the periphery of the flock. This was a Redshank.
I assume from the pale colour of its legs that it was a young adult.
Such rich colors on some of those godwits. They did look a little chilly, though.
ReplyDeleteThanks Wilma. Yes it was around 3 celsius with the wind chill factor.
DeleteUpea lintu. Toivottavasti näemme niitä kesällä myös täällä.
