Woodland Walk - Butterflies and Bluebells

A woodland walk that revealed much to see with several butterflies and flowers to photograph.

Peacock Butterfly

A pair of Blue Tits which from what I could see was the male chasing after the female.
Well it is that time of year.

The Bluebells are well out now.

Small Tortoiseshell Butterfly

This looks like Crab-apple blossom.

No Thrush to be seen, but I found his Anvil where he smashes snail shells open to eat the contents.

This Dunnock below was singing, not with his usual full repertoire, but a few faint short notes.

Green-veined White Butterfly

A Crows Nest which was inhabited.

Wispy clouds

Brimstone Butterfly

Comma Butterfly out from hibernation.

Orange Tip Butterfly

Not quite a White bell, but still interesting to have found a new one in a different area.

  1. Lots of great photos Roy, love the Wispy cloud, would like to know more about clouds, on my list of things to learn about !!
We have had a few Song Thrush at the park this last week amazing song. We have Mistle Thrush all year round here and I think there are a couple of Redwing Hanging on. Our Bluebells need to catch up....

    1. Thanks Amanda. I keep hearing Mistle Thrush, they are annoying though as they are always way up in the top of trees and not very conducive to photography. I think the bluebells are about 4 weeks early.

  3. A great little walk there! I regret not paying more attention to the countryside when I lived in the UK - how could I have passed on that Peacock Butterfly!

  7. A gorgeous walk you took us on Roy, the bluebells are out of this world, and love the peacock butterfly photos.

Thanks for the lovely comment, I remember Harry Secombe was a big part of our listening pleasure on a Sunday during dinnertime. Magnificent voice he had.

  8. What a great set of photos - the bluebells are just glorious. They haven't got into their full stride yet in these parts. Going to be a really good year for them though by the looks of it.

    1. Thanks D. If we don't get a deluge of rain in May I think most things will have a good year.

  9. Wonderful Roy, you've seen so much butterflies already! I love the Orange tip, it's kind of frustrated I never managed to get one on the photo. Also love the Brimstone photo and these special clouds.
