Orange is the Colour

I know "Not more butterflies".

Well I think that when you have so many Orange Tip flying this year you have to make the best of it.
They do make a lovely subject.

Lumix GH3. 100-300mm lens. 1/640 at f8. 300mm. ISO200

These four shots below I took of one male that was pitched on a Cuckoo Flower and there was water in the background. I couldn't get a better angle than this as I would have blocked out the sun and it would have disturbed the butterfly. Of course it would stay on the opposite side all the time as thats where the open flowers were.

  1. We can never get too many butterflies (or images of them) Roy...keep 'em coming.

The Orange Tip is always good to see and you've captured some cracking images here. Do you bribe them to 'sit' for you?...those I've seen around here seem to have itchy feet and rarely pitch for more than a few seconds...lol.

    More please...[;o)

  11. Simply fantastic shots Roy, just stunning :-) It is interesting to read that you have lots of Orange-Tips down your way this year whereas up here they seem a bit scarce at the moment.

  13. Please keep showing us the butterfly shots, Roy! These are beautiful and I love Orange Tips - I especially love seeing them on their favourite Cuckoo Flower/Lady's Smock. I am treasuring the sight of these lovely butterflies here before they disappear for another year.
