Visit to Lodmoor and Radipole Reserves Weymouth

The rainfall had eased somewhat over a couple of days so a recce visit to both Reserves was carried out.

Fortunately at both Reserves the flood water had receded and all the path ways were open.

Lodmoor Reserve

Cormorant

Grey Heron

A flock of about 50 Golden Plover were settled on a stretch of land, but some distance from any viewing point.

Canada Geese

Common Snipe

A flight of Lapwing

Teal Duck

Radipole Lake Reserve

Mostly Herring Gull were observed on the waterways.

Adult Herring Gull

First Year Herring Gull

If you study gulls as they rise from the water they tend to shake themselves vigorously which provides a rather unusual image.

A distance few shots of one of the Marsh Harriers that reside on the Reserve.

Not much flora to be found now at this time.

  1. Aivan ihana alue! Siellä on tosi paljon lintuja! Meidän pitää odottaa monta kuukautta, että ne tulevat takaisin tänne.

  2. I'm glad that the floodwaters had receded enough for your visit - no such joy at Welney for a while yet, I suspect. That's a very curious shot of the gull shaking itself.

    1. Welney. I use to have to make a wide detour to get there from Peterborough at this time of year John.
