Its around this time that the Green Hairstreak emerges and fortunately I was able to find three yesterday at the location I would normally expect to find them.
The weather has warmed up at last and it was a lovely sunny day.
The Green Hairstreak particularly likes Hawthorn trees and the buds are just coming out now as a result of the warmer weather.
NB: For local nature colleagues the Green Hairstreak are at the normal location at H and H.
A very nice set of images Roy. I saw my first ever on my butterfly transect today but it was constantly on the wing!.
ReplyDeleteThanks Frank. They don't rest much.
DeleteWhat a lovely little butterfly!
ReplyDeleteThanks FG.
DeleteWonderful! I really hope I get to see one again and get a chance to get a decent photo! :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Mandy.
DeleteLovely photos of the green hairstreak. I hope to go out looking for some in the next few days.
ReplyDeleteKauniita kuvia.
ReplyDeleteKiitos Anne. En tiedä mitä muuta voisi kutsua. {:))
DeleteNice set Roy.
ReplyDeleteNot seen many butterflies here yet, although plenty of Orange Tips the other day.
Thanks Keith, yes the weather is bringing them out now at last.
DeleteSplendid ! I nerver see The Green Hairstreak ! You are very lucky !
