Brimstone Butterfly

Brimstone (Gonepteryx rhamni

The first butterfly sighting of the year for me.
Observed this male today during my woodland walk and it was the only one that I did observe.

It would have emerged from hibernation very recently, maybe in the last day or two, as this occurs during the first few warm days of Spring.

    1. Thanks Trevor, yes, but its getting colder again for a few days so I doubt that there will be too many additions for a while.
