Lodmoor Reserve Visit (Part 1)

This is the first of a three part series of posts created after my recent visits to Lodmoor Reserve, Weymouth.

Three Great White Egrets were observed during each visit.
There is usually at least one somewhere on the Reserve.

This Cormorant below had the shock of its life when it surfaced from a dive.

Regular attenders to the Reserve are the Dunlin.
Small waders that dart about amongst the rest of the resident and visiting species.

The Great White tolerates the presence of Grey Heron, most of the time.

A Small White Butterfly, one of the few species that are still around at this time.

Fortunately there were a couple of Ruff observed feeding on the Reserve, one male and one female.
The male is noticeably larger than the female.
The female has the common name, 'Reeves".

Another pleasant encounter was this Yellow Wagtail.
It is feeding up for the long journey South.

The Speckled Wood butterfly looking a bit worn now.
