The Bar-tailed Godwit uses the Ferry Bridge Reserve at Weymouth as a Staging Post for rest and feeding during migration.
The males are the red chestnut colour and the females are light grey. A really colourful marked Wader, which I love to photograph when I get the opportunity.
Another Wader joined in the 'Sleep In' with the Barwits.
A regular at Ferry Bridge, the Dunlin has particularly striking markings at this time of year.
There is a considerable number of resident birds of this species in UK. The number increases greatly during Winter migration. I believe those observed here are over Winter migrants.
Obviously not a Wader, but the Linnet can be observed all of the year around at Ferry Bridge.
A beautiful scene along the edge of the water between the Fleet water and the Chesil Beach bank.
The Sea Pink or Thrift Flower (ameria maritima) which grows profusely along the lea side of the beach at this time of year.
Todella kaunis maisema! Onpa siellä paljon lintuja! Toivottavasti niitä tulee pian myös tänne.
ReplyDeleteKiitos Anne.

Heel erg bedankt Maria voor je vriendelijke opmerkingen.
DeleteFantastic photos - your shots are so much closer than I have ever seen these birds even though binocs or scope! How do you do it? Were you in a hide? Not trying to downplay your amazing photography, of course!
ReplyDeleteThanks Mandy.
DeleteI was 'hiding' in the open and using an 840mm (Full frame equivalent lens) ie a 300mm f4 Olympus with a 1.4 converter.
I love waders. Great shots, as always!
ReplyDeleteThanks Mary.
