A Butterfly Shoot - Cerne Abbas

A visit to Cerne Abbas (The grounds below the Giant) revealed three species of butterfly, all of which I would expect to see at this time.

Firstly the aptly named Green Hairstreak.

The inappropriately named Dingy Skipper.

Lastly the Grizzled Skipper (known colloquially as the Grizzly).

  1. Oh lovely, great to see some more interesting species! I was just showing the Green Hairstreak to my hubby as he thought he had seen one on a walk recently but wasn't sure. He says that's what it was! I haven't seen any skippers yet but our weather has been so rubbish this spring it is not surprising. Photos are beautiful as always.
