This male Bullfinch was so involved with grabbing seeds from a plant whilst hovering momentarily, it didn't notice me, or more likely considered me not to be a threat. I could hear the female calling nearby, but no show unfortunately.

Lovely shots Roy...and no annoying twigs!...[;o)
ReplyDeleteThanks Trevor, it does make a nice change.
DeleteBullfinches used to appear regularly in our garden when I was a boy; they seem to be much scarcer nowadays.
ReplyDeleteNot many around John. I only know for a couple of pairs and thats over a wide area.
DeletePunatulkut ovat kauniita lintuja, ja niiden ääni on ihana!
ReplyDeleteKiitos Anne
DeleteThey are so sweet and kind. They are a sort of big for an finch but are shy and when they call eachother it's soft and nice. Lovely species in my oppinion. Nice photo's of the male and I hope you'll see the female next time also.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend,
Marianne
Thanks Marianne. I will be looking out for the female, I don't think she was far away because I could hear the call.
DeleteVery beautiful bird, I have never see him :( One time in my garden, 5 seconds lol) !
ReplyDeleteThanks Nath, they are often seen here and usually in pairs. Not always in the open like this one was though.:))
DeleteOh wow !!! These are beautiful pictures of the Bullfinch.
