The Scolding Wren

While I was standing on a track in the Woodland this week, this male Wren suddenly appeared from low undergrowth and perched on a low hanging branch. It started singing away as male Wrens tend to do especially at this time. I took a number of shots and it moved onto other branches several times, but still within a comfortable range that I didn't have to move position. It was possible that there was a nest under construction low down and I got the impression that the male Wren was trying to tell me to go away or words to that effect.{:))

Apparently the male Wren builds several nests and the female comes along and choses one.
The male then lines the nest with moss etc. This sounds familiar.{:))

  6. Hi Roy! Great shots capturing those "wrenny" postures! I love them. He resembles our little House Wren. I love hearing that scolding call when one is in our yard.
