A 'Nonsense' Observation

Observing Greylag Geese in the Parkland on a regular basis I notice that they return to the water from local fields frequently to drink and to preen.

Walking about muddy fields and grassland they can get rather dirty web feet at this time of year.

So consequently when they return to the water it cleans their feet, just by landing on the water.

Note the muddy water around the feet.

See below, the feet are clean again.{:))

Only to start all over again of course.

Well I did say it was nonsense.{:))

  5. Whenever I go anywhere near geese it's my feet that usually need cleaning!

    1. Seriously, Roy, that's what I do! But sometimes when you are boning a carcass for the soup pot, there's nothing like using the tools that God gave us. :-)

  7. It's hardly revelatory, but it is a charming little series of pictures!

  8. Excellent, better than scraping the mud off walking boots. Maybe I'll keep this in mind next time, though I doubt my landings are a elegant!
