Sedge Warbler

The first images I have been able to get of a Sedge Warbler (Acrocephalus scoenobaenus) this year.

Walking along a river bank I could hear his chattering call.
For a change, I was waiting for him to appear rather than he hiding as soon as he would have seen me.

I did see him several more times, but it was a matter of him flying up out of the reeds and down again along the bank. However, I must be thankful for small mercies.{:))

  6. Well shot Roy, I got some last year but they are not easy, usually to much vegetation in the way.

  8. Roy, I am amazed that you could even get a shot of this shy and active bird! Thanks for a gorgeous look at it! I think we have this species here in the U.S. but I have only seen it flashing between the reeds!

  9. You can tell who the dedicated birdwatchers are by the hours they spend trying to get such great photographs of a simple brown bird that hides in the reeds! I tried to do the same last weekend with an Australian Reed-Warbler and judging by the results, you're more dedicated than I! :)
