The first images I have been able to get of a Sedge Warbler (Acrocephalus scoenobaenus) this year.
Walking along a river bank I could hear his chattering call.
For a change, I was waiting for him to appear rather than he hiding as soon as he would have seen me.
I did see him several more times, but it was a matter of him flying up out of the reeds and down again along the bank. However, I must be thankful for small mercies.{:))
I have heard a lot of Sedge this year but have not got a descent shot of one of them. these shots are great.
ReplyDeleteYou have to take your chances when you get them Roy...lol! Well caught...[;o)
ReplyDeletehij heeft het een beetje benauwd.
ReplyDeleteThanks Bas.
Deletelovely photos of this beautiful bird Roy
ReplyDeleteThanks Carole.
DeleteHi Roy,
ReplyDeleteAlways nice the have the first new catch in a year. I especially like your first photo and your header is wonderful. Beautiful this Orange tip!
Enjoy your weekend,
Marianne
Thanks Marianne.
DeleteWell shot Roy, I got some last year but they are not easy, usually to much vegetation in the way.
ReplyDeleteGreat shot Roy, nice looking bird.
ReplyDeleteThanks Amanda.
DeleteRoy, I am amazed that you could even get a shot of this shy and active bird! Thanks for a gorgeous look at it! I think we have this species here in the U.S. but I have only seen it flashing between the reeds!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kathie, I have to get lucky occasionally.{:))
DeleteYou can tell who the dedicated birdwatchers are by the hours they spend trying to get such great photographs of a simple brown bird that hides in the reeds! I tried to do the same last weekend with an Australian Reed-Warbler and judging by the results, you're more dedicated than I! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Christian, you are far too kind.
DeleteHi, Roy!
ReplyDeleteRefreshing change, here on your blog.
Great image, and great choice!
And some more amazing images, as usual...
Have a nice weekend!
Ana
Thanks Ana.
DeleteI went for a walk at Wareham, along the river, heard loads of Sedge warblers and Cetti's warblers, you're lucky if you can see one though. Nice capture:-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Lyn, yes thats a nice area to walk. Never lucky enough to see the Cetti's.
DeleteI got other years also sometimes a warbler in the picture, but this year it did not succeed. With you, the warbler is again nicely :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Helma.
