Red Campion

One of my all time favourite wild flowers the Red Campion (Silene dioica).

I read that the crushed seeds of the Red Campion have been used to treat snake bites.
Several species of butterflies and bumblebees feed on the nectar of the flower and moths feed on the foliage. So its a very useful plant altogether.

And where did I shoot these images…….
a meadow in the Parkland where I walk sometimes.

    1. They look even better when not cultivated like these Mary. I like to see them on the country road side banks.
