Kingfisher

A chance encounter with this elusive character.
I have certainly had quite a few brief sightings of the Kingfisher in recent times in areas that I have seen them in the past. We had a bad winter or two that reduced sightings in those areas, but they are coming back from what I have seen, which is encouraging.

  1. Beautiful! It always amazes me how palm-sized little bundles of feathers can survive the winters you have.

  2. Lovely sighting indeed and great pics!
They show well the environment of this gorgeous male!
The one coming to my lake has disappeared and for 2 years none replaced him.
In the last couple of months, a new guy has taken over the site but not regularly enough yet to post myself in a hide... I hope I will have a chance further in the season...!!
    Cheers Roy, keep well!

  7. Hi Roy, You must be happy you found them again and that you could capture them. I really hope this winter we'll have less snow and ice than the last 3 years. This was really bad for the population of Kingfishers.

Furthermore, every time I open your blog I enjoy the picture if the Dunnoch very much!

    Regards,
    Marianne
