Its a Mute Swan feeding on weed under the surface of shallow water and blowing bubbles in the process.
A few Mute Swan portraits.

I was in the wrong place to get the 'heart shape' correctly on this occasion. Something you would normally see in the Springtime, but this pair were in open water with other Mutes close by, so it was a form of greeting and commitment, rather than what it usually means.
a lovely series Roy; the mute swans are very photogenic, also like your latest header image
ReplyDeleteThanks Carole.
DeleteHI Roy These are fantastic photographs of Swan studies. I know why i cannot get shots like these as youhave a wondeful long lens.
ReplyDeleteThanks Margaret.
DeleteThe first two I took with a 100-300mm f5.6 (which equates to a 200-600mm in DSLR terms).
The rest were with a 35-100mm f2.8 (which equates to a 70-200mm 2.8 in DSLR terms).
I so love swans; such lovely photos ... :0)
ReplyDeleteThanks Shirl.
DeleteVery elegant! Yet on a funny note, the title made me laugh, reminded me of a joke by Brudda IZ from Hawaii. Beautiful photos, Roy.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kathryn.

Thanks Guy, their behaviour isn't quite so angelic.{:))
DeleteJust yesterday I was trying to take a decent shot of swans we found swimming on a pond near here, it wasn't easy at all... This is a beautiful series and most of all I love the last photo where the swans look magnificent and resemble a royal pair. The green shade of the water looks quite unusual and impressive in the photo. I'm enchanted... :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Petra.{:))
DeleteJust stunning Roy. Off to look at the Starlings now....
