An Early Morning Dunnock

At the start of an early morning walk I was greeted by this splendid Dunnock perched in the sunshine high in a Dog Rose bush.

As a contrast this male Bullfinch was hiding nearby as it is certainly not looking at its best just yet.

  4. Lovely images Roy, the Dunnock seemed to be making the most of the sunshine as he sat for his portrait. Often overlooked as just another LBJ, but when looked at closely the subtle colours and markings are wonderful.

I'm sure that that Bullfinch will soon be at his best and the shyness will have disappeared...[;o)

  5. Lovely photos as always. It is easy to overlook the Dunnock but they are sweet little birds. I haven't seen a Bullfinch for a while, I always love those colours on the male even when the birds aren't looking their best!

  8. Hi Roy,

What a nice and colourful pictures. The dunnock is still singing, or so it seems. To catch a Bullfinch (whinch is in Dutch called Goldfinch) isn't very easy, so my compliments. Your banner is wonderful!

  11. Roy, when I read Dunnocks' Czech name in a dictionary, I realized I've never heard of it... but it's a nice bird. The dog rose bush in the background looks perfect.
