The first and only Painted Lady butterfly I have seen this year.
I found this one along an open woodland track. Amongst Peacock and Large White butterflies it was moving from thistle head to thistle head and at one stage landed on a small tree stump. Its not quite a perfect specimen having a small nip on the edge of its wing, but still quite colourful.
still very beautiful Roy; lovely photo moments from you
ReplyDeleteThanks Carole.
DeleteGorgeous shots Roy, I love 'em all :-) I've seen a couple of Painted Ladies this year but none have been very cooperative when it came to having their pictures taken.
ReplyDeleteHier krijg je toch nooit genoeg van Roy dit is gewoon prachtig.
ReplyDeleteThanks Nic.
DeleteLovely photos - it may have that corner missing from its wing but it's still beautiful. I've been watching for them in the garden for weeks, but in the end I had to go out into the fields to see them.
ReplyDeleteThanks Wendy.
DeleteWe also have Painted Ladies. They are generally very common, but I haven't see any this year.
ReplyDeleteYes I have seen some of the images from across the pond Steve.
DeleteThey look a bit bigger I think.
Absolutely beautiful. Sorry to say we haven't seen any around this part of Derbyshire so far this year.
ReplyDeleteThanks Stephen.

Great shot's all !

Look at those beautiful colours, and in particular the contrast between the butterfly and the tree stump. Incredible colours of nature.
