A variety of butterfly images taken recently.
A fresh 'out of the box' Brown Argus.
A Green-veined White (Left) and a Small White (Right) having a 'Mineral' feast.
Two images of different mating pairs of Chalkhill Blue.
I am pleased to say that I have seen more Common Blue in recent days and hopefully there will be sufficient to increase the population for next year.
A Speckled Wood resting in the sunshine.
A Gatekeeper looking well worn.
I can't believe all the butterfly pictures you get. They hardly ever pose nicely for me!!
ReplyDeleteYou have to sneak up on them Karen.{:))
DeleteNice Roy! Chalkhill blue I've never seen, so to see a pair mating is lovely. They say in Holland that this year will be one of the best years for butterflies, I think in Uk too?
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend,
Marianne
Thanks Marianne.
DeleteIts been quite good after the disaster of last year, but not great. Hopefully next they will recover even more.
More superb photos Roy :-)
ReplyDeleteI've been extremely busy lately so have not had much time for blogging and what not but I've been enjoying a catch up with your blog today and your recent photos have been outstanding ! The Dragonfly flight shots from the other day were simply stunning and pin-sharp :-)
Thanks David.
DeleteWonderful photos of the butterflies. I love the Brown Argus and the Whites having their feast. I'd love to see the beautiful Chalkhill Blue, I've never seen one.
ReplyDeleteThanks Wendy.
DeleteHey Roy... it is still nice to see more butterflies, keep them coming it won't be long before it will be over for another season!! Hopefully all this mating will mean a good year for them next year, but one never can tell!!
ReplyDeleteGood that your season has been fruitful, here it has been a not so great year!!
Love the two facing each other it other like there having a conversation over tea and
a bite to eat : ))
Love the Common Blues!!
Grace
Thanks GG.

Thanks. Greetings.
DeleteOh, I love the softness of the last one. Hope you have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteThanks Laura and you.
DeleteGreat set of flutters Roy. After a slow start most species appear to have done well this year. Large numbers of Peacocks around over the last few days and an 'explosion' of Chalkhill Blues a week or so ago, so many it was impossible to count them!!...[;o)
ReplyDeleteThanks Trevor. Yes things have looked up pretty well recently and hopefully it bodes well for next year.
DeleteAnother grand set of photos Roy. I have seen plenty of flutters recently but not many different types and they just refuse to stay still ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks John.
