Following the Plough.

A few images I took at the weekend on the flat fields of the Fenland.
Note the very dark soil which is typical of the area.

  1. Hi Roy

Wow we are a long way from working the land here. I love the photos of the gulls following the tractor what a creative series.

  2. It's good that the farmers are able to get onto the soil Roy. Everywhere I go seems to be still completely saturated!

    1. Yes there is still a lot of water around on the land John.
We appeared to have had another lot this week as there are floods at FM.

  3. Always a wondrous sight when dozens to hundreds appear as the plough starts work.

  4. I do so love this image of the gulls following the plough, it is in true Ladybird Book style. Here the land is mainly for cattle and sheep so this sight is less common. Love all these photos the different angles ring the changes.

  6. I was watching this today, at Paxton Pits Roy.
Amazes me how the gulls manage to avoid getting crushed.
    Great captures.

    1. Its a very high water table in this area at the best of times GG. Of course we have had a lot of extra rain and snow over a long period as well.

  10. Yes dark soil around here Nora, thats the reason much of the area of East Anglia is used for vegetable growing.
