Comma on the Wing

Comma Butterfly (Polygonia c-album)
"This Comma has not yet come to a 'full stop'."

Its not unusual to observe Comma butterflies still flying in October and one place you are most likely to find them is on ripe blackberries. This is exactly where I found this one during this week eating from the fruit while remaining in a sunny position.
They will fly on while the weather remains mild and eventually hibernate in woodlands for the Winter.

For some extra colour I have added some Meadow Crane's-bill also photographed this week.

  2. Hei Roy! Kauniin kesäisen näköistä! Meillä on kukat jo kukkineet, ja lehdet on kohta kaikki lähteneet puista:-( Talvi tulee. Terkkuja

  3. I have not seen many Commas this year so far but in the past week we have seen loads of Red Admirals, they are feasting on the Ivy flowers.
