Firstly, this is not the pair of Stonechat that I have posted about before that frequent the Parkland that I walk regularly. (Incidently the female of that pair disappeared before Christmas)
Its a pair that I have observed along a riverbank some miles away from the Parkland.
I have observed Stonechat in the distant past along that river, but this is the first in a long time which is encouraging.
They do make a handsome pair.
Fantastic birds and superb photos Roy, I wish we had some of these near my East Yorkshire home. Indeed when I think back I used to see them much more regularly in past winters in this area, and it is only up on the Moors that I tend to see them these days. Still it is good to see that they seem to be doing well in your neck of the woods :-)

DeleteGreat observation of this 'new' pair, Roy, now it would be interesting to see where they are building their nest although it seems very close to where you've taken these pics!
ReplyDeleteI am also observing a couple of pairs around here but I haven't taken yet the best photos! LOL!
Keep well and enjoy your week :)
Thanks Noushka.
DeleteThey move up to Northern England to breed and will probably be leaving shortly for that journey.
