More Spring Flowers

Writing a blog about Nature and the Countryside inevitably means that at various times of the year one will probably repeat posts of a similar nature during specific seasons.

I know that I would have certainly posted about these Spring flowers in previous years and probably shown them more than once in year. However I try and vary the repeat posts as much as possible, but its right I believe to celebrate such beautiful aspects of floral nature as they occur.

Pasque Flower

Bluebell

Wood Anemone

Cowslip

Lesser Celandine

  4. Beautiful wildflowers Roy, I for one always look forward to seeing your annual celebration of Pasque flowers, especially as I have never had the pleasure of seeing them in person. As you say it is important to celebrate things like the changing seasons and such annual natural events, especially when so many people are seemingly indifferent about nature & the wider countryside!

  5. After seeing so many blogs come and go, it is good to see that you have an annual rhythm and you are able to keep up your stride.

  8. Love the hillside of Pasque flowers, but the shots downs at flower level are magical. Wouldn't it be great to be 6 inches tall and down amongst all those flowers? Thanks for showing us!

  15. I agree with you Roy. You can never get tired of seeing and taking pictures of wildflowers as they occur. The Pasque flower I have never seen here in the wild. I do love the wildflowers and I think they need our help because so much of their natural habitat is destroyed. So don't worry about being repetitive in taking pictures of the wildflowers, it shows that you appreciate their beauty which sadly so many people don't. My next door neighbours have no appreciation of anything beautiful, their lawn had wildflowers springing up including bluebells planted by the previous owners but the poor flowers don't now stand a chance of surviving, the lawn mower comes out and completely mow away all the flowers. So sad as the previous owners, like ourselves, appreciated the natural life and encouraged it in their garden but these new people are completely dead to anything that is beautiful. They cut down all the hedge surrounding the garden, cut down the apple tree and got rid of the pond. The garden is just lawn, grass, nothing else. My garden is full of wildflowers: Celandines, Bluebells, Violas, Buttercups, Dandelions, Forget-me-nots, Herb Robert, Fox and Cubs. The Herb Robert and the Fox and Cubs I bought from a garden centre. I have Common Field Speedwell taking over one stretch of my lawn, it is looking fantastic at the moment, a sea of tiny blue flowers. I have read this is an annual plant, so I hope it will continue to reseed my lawn as the grass is virtually gone where it has grown. It is a joy to see the Spring flowers, lightens the heart, gets you away from misery of the human world.

  17. It is always right to celebrate the beauty of nature. I am always delighted seeing my first ladybird, bee, or spring flower and never tire of seeing a blackbird or robin.

  18. Love all these beautiful flowers. I've never seen wild Pasque flowers before. Enjoyed your butterfly photos on previous post too - the Speckled Wood is common in the woodland part of my garden so see them every day. :-)
