The Green-veined White Butterfly (Pieris napi)
(Plus some supporting images below)
Its the first of this species I have seen this year.
A medium sized species around 50mm wing span that is one of the easiest of the Whites to identify.
Common throughout the UK, it will be present through to the end of September.

Lovely shots. On Copeland at the weekend I saw G. veined, Small White and Peacock. Did I tell you I saw 1 Puffin, must be the first seen on the island (N.I)
ReplyDeleteThanks Margaret. Puffin! that is unusual.
DeleteSuperb images Roy. I especially like the pair of Brimmies. Got a shot of a male Orange Tip at home yesterday nectaring on cuckoo flower- much quicker than last spring when it took days and days of chasing after them in our local woods!
ReplyDeleteThanks CT, haven't seen any Cuckoo flowers yet.
DeleteNice capture of the Brimstones in flight. Activity seems to have slowed down here after two frosty mornings.
