A Late Brown Argus

I was fortunate to find this Brown Argus (Aricia agestis) a few days ago as they are at the very end of their flying time now.
I think from the shape of the body that this one was a female.
Males and females of this species are very hard to differentiate.
The average wingspan of the Brown Argus (Both sexes) is 29mm.

  5. Beautiful photos, Roy!
I agree, males and females are difficult to tell apart.
I found that many species of insects have extended their flight time this autumn, I wonder if it is due to this wet summer and warm september?
    Well done, keep well

    1. Thanks Noushka, yes it certainly is still quite like Summer here at the end of September.

  6. It is indeed a brown argus though I hesitated at the first picture. I see us some blue in the wings, but I think that's a reflection.
