A Late Blue

One of the second and later brood of the Common Blue Butterfly (Polyommatus icarus).
This was a pleasant surprise to find in grassland on a very dull day with little else of interest to photograph.

    1. Thanks Amanda, their usual food plant is Bird's-foot Trefoil, but I think that is more or less over. This one didn't appear to be around anything edible other than long grass, but there is other flowers about generally.

  6. Such a lovely butterfly. Love the fringes on the edges of its wings and the powdery blue color.
