Marbled and Meadow Pair

A pair of Marbled White Butterfly mating.
Note the brown markings on the underside wing of the female.




A pair of Meadow Brown Butterfly mating.
Note the two black dots on the underside wing of the male which also has two shaded bands of brown on that wing, as opposed to three shades on the female.

  7. Enjoyed my nature lesson for the day Roy, I have never really looked at the differences between the male and female butterfly before. Fantastic shots as always. Do you use a tripod to take your shots?

      Most butterflies don't wait around for you to erect a tripod.{:))

  10. Hey Roy... fantastic shot's being in the right place at the right time !! I suppose they are distracted so it is easier to get the photo's without them fluttering of !!
    The Marbled's look like they are waltzing ; )
