Whitethroat Week (Part 1)

There are certainly a good number of Common Whitethroat in the area this year from what I have observed so far.
A good time to get images of the Whitethroat is during the first week or so of their arrival on migration.
They tend to show rather well and make plenty of noise as well.

This is the first of the series and there will be a post on Wednesday and one on Friday of this week.

Green and White

Green Hairstreak Butterfly

Late April, beginning of May is a good time to look for this species.
May bush flowers or Elderberry leaves are likely locations to find them.
There is only one brood per year. Colonies are found at numerous locations in UK and Ireland.

Large White Butterfly

A species that can be found anywhere.
This one I photographed is a male. The female has black spots on the wings.
There are normally two broods during the year.
