Turning Gold - Lodmoor Reserve

The good news is that the first of the Golden Plovers have returned to the Reserve.
Twenty plus were observed on one of the flat stretch of land this week along with five Ringed Plover.
It is normal for a few Golden Plover to arrive at this time. This will be followed later by up to a flock of a thousand or so.

There are still a lot of Chiffys amongst the Willow trees catching insects, providing further opportunity to photograph them.

A good number of Little Egrets are in attendance and are very active at the moment flying about the Reserve.

Even the Black-tailed Godwits have arrived in some numbers now providing some flight shots each time they get airborne having been disturbed by a Hobby or a Marsh Harrier.

Canada Geese graze the grass areas and enjoy the sunshine. Not many in number, but will no doubt increase as the Winter approaches.

Grey Heron.

Several Great White Egrets are also on the Reserve enjoying the fishing, with some compotition from the green eyed monster. AKA Cormorants.

Mediterranean Gull in flight.
Always plenty of these on the Reserve.
