Barley and Butterflies

Images taken on my recent walk.

The Barley Harvest is well under way.

I think this below is the first Peacock butterfly I have seen this year. Quite amazing when to think this is a resident of UK. I do hope they recover numbers next year as this is probably our most colourful species.

Flight of the Fairies

If you study Banded Demoiselle damselflies long enough you will find that they often like to pitch on the same place each time.
This provides for some flight shot opportunities.

More Flutters

A few species of butterflies have now appeared on my local walk and other locations at last.
It is surprising how a few warm days have affected the butterfly population.
It has also improved my chances of finding the Golden-ringed Dragonfly.

Reed Warbler/Stonechat

A single repetitive low sounding call from the reeds alerted me to this Reed Warbler.
Fortunately it came into view amongst the reeds several times.

Stonechats at this time of year display their full colourful plumage.
