One of the first colourful species to grace us with its presence in April.
The Orange Tip Butterfly.
I found this male flying along a path next to a river.
It occasionally pitched on one of its favourite locations, the flower of a Lady's Smock (Cuckoo flower).
Always a good strategy when photographing the Orange Tip, locate Cuckoo flowers along a path or woodland ride and wait for the butterfly to pitch on them as it invariably will.
Incredible picture of the butterfly in flight.

ReplyDeleteIt’s ages since I saw anything of real interest.
Thanks Lyndsey, its beginning to get a little better, if only it wasn't so cold.
DeleteImagens adoráveis! Esta espécie aqui tão bem retratada, não me lembro de a conseguir ver por aqui!

Obrigada Ana.
DeleteNão tenho certeza se existe lá.
The orange tip is really nice to see and also one of the first butterflies that I normally see. Not this year, but I enjoy your beautiful photos.
ReplyDeleteThanks Helma.
