A Jersey Tiger

No, there are no Tigers on Jersey, well not as far as I know anyway.😀
The Jersey Tiger Moth does however frequent the Channel Islands and has been regularly observed there.
This is another daytime Moth that I have not seen before.
I found this one (one of two) near Portland Bill.
It has more recently been observed along the South coast of England.

  1. It must be a good year for Jersey Tigers; I saw my first one ever just north of Hertford at Waterford Heath last week, and then I saw a report of one at Amwell NR just south of Ware. Global warming I suppose. All I managed was a rather blurry photo with the wings completely closed (though the pattern is quite distinctive) so I'm envious of your super shots.

  2. Helli Roy,
I hope to see this beautiful mot! Sometime, somewhere, ever ;-)
    Beautifully captured!
