"The nodding Oxeye bends before the wind"
(John Clare - The Fear of Flowers)
Oxeye Daisies, sometimes commonly known as 'Moon Daisies' or 'Horse Daisies'.
On this occasion Horse Daisy seems appropriate as I took this shot in a meadow known as 'Horse Meadow'.
This shot was just one corner of the meadow and there were several large areas of daisies.
A lot of motorway verges are thick with ox-eye daisies at the moment, a wonderful sight which few people seem to comment on. It seems to be a pretty good year for lots of flowers so far this year.
ReplyDeleteAlways like to see them John.
DeleteWe have ox eye daisies here in Georgia too. They are not native but from the British isles just like the daffodils. Th e daisies come up in our front and back yards and my husband leaves them and just cuts grass around them. So nice to see those bright white flowers swaying in the breeze!
ReplyDeleteWe did bring a lot of things over in the past didn't we Kay.:)
DeleteWonderful photo.
ReplyDeleteThanks Robert.
DeleteVoi, miten kaunis kuva!!
ReplyDeleteA lovely scene Roy..a joy to see. Unfortunately, we seem to be infested with a plague of 'Mad Strimmer Men' around here at the moment! Just a few days ago I was photographing micro moths on a patch of Buttercups in a local nature reserve when I reluctantly had to move aside and watch as they were mowed down...I wasn't happy!!!....when challenged the mower man said he was just doing what he'd been instructed to do and that I should talk to his boss!...[;o{
ReplyDeleteThanks Trevor. Yes we have similar activity going on in the local Parkland where I walk. Only they have gone on to bigger things like Oak Trees.??
DeleteWhat a beautiful and colorful sea of daisies.
