Speckled Wood Emerges

The increase in temperature yesterday, coupled with hardly any wind meant a few butterflies were seen on the wing. I observed Orange Tip (without getting a photograph), the Brimstone (male and female) and the Peacock. For the first time this Spring I found two Speckled Wood butterflies, one of which is shown below.

  1. I've always had a soft spot for these little darlings but haven't spotted one yet this year.

  2. Nice find and images Roy. What a difference a few miles make...no chance of seeing any butterflies in the fog, mist and grey clouds here yesterday! There has been a change in the weather today though...it's cold and it's raining!!...[;o[

    1. Thanks Trevor. When is this weather going to settle down to something like Spring. It's like waiting for Brexit.
