The increase in temperature yesterday, coupled with hardly any wind meant a few butterflies were seen on the wing. I observed Orange Tip (without getting a photograph), the Brimstone (male and female) and the Peacock. For the first time this Spring I found two Speckled Wood butterflies, one of which is shown below.
I've always had a soft spot for these little darlings but haven't spotted one yet this year.
ReplyDeleteIf the weather bucks up they should be out in good numbers shortly John.
DeleteNice find and images Roy. What a difference a few miles make...no chance of seeing any butterflies in the fog, mist and grey clouds here yesterday! There has been a change in the weather today though...it's cold and it's raining!!...[;o[
ReplyDeleteThanks Trevor. When is this weather going to settle down to something like Spring. It's like waiting for Brexit.
DeleteBeautiful photos of the butterflies.
ReplyDeleteThanks Caroline.
