Single Image Post

My single image post today is this male Common Blue Butterfly.

It was a cold and windy and very overcast day and there were no butterflies on the wing during my walk. This was the case until I was photographing some Horse Daisies when I disturbed this butterfly. It didn't fly very far and landed again on another daisy bud where it would probably stay for the rest of the day.

  1. Hi Roy!

In this world of filters and virus tools, my commenting abilities sometimes get blocked, especially when I check up on your posts during lunch at work. I continue to enjoy your images on a regular basis.

I often wonder if your success with butterflies is because of the farming practices in your region. According to the Massachusetts Bee Keeper's association, Essex County, where Im located, has the highest pesticide useage in Mass.

    1. Hi Steve. Although East Anglia is very much an agricultural/ vegetable crop growing area, I am fortunate to be able to visit several either Woodland and/or open Nature reserves and large Parkland areas within a 20 mile radius. All of which are free of pesticide/herbicides etc.
An added bonus is that having visited regularly those areas I get to know where the likely territories of the various species exist, plus some times I get lucky. :)) Best regards.
