Grass Vetchling

(Lathyrus nissolia)

It was pure luck that I found this little flower. I was walking on a trodden pathway at the edge of a large grass field and noticed amongst the grass a very tiny little pink flower. The flower was similar to a Sweet Pea bloom, but measured only about 5mm across. It appeared to be attached to a tall single stalk of grass.

The Grass Vetchling (an annual) is a member of the Pea family and flowers between May and July.

  1. Certainly loks like a mini Swet pea Roy and I love the veining on the petals. Have a great weekend.

  2. These are stunning little flowers, like little jewels shining through the undergrowth.

Lovely set of images Roy...I hope you had someone around to help you get up after taking them?...[;o)

    1. Thanks Trevor. It was a bit desperate, but I don't mind being down in the long grass.:)

The intense pink color is really beautiful to see.
