Red Admiral and Gatekeeper

Two species both completely different in colours are on the wing at the moment.
The Red Admiral is a migrant and the Gatekeeper is a resident species.

  1. Lovely photos as always. I haven't seen too many Red Admirals in the garden, though that's possibly because my Buddleia is slow to come on flower this year

    1. Thanks Trevor, yes I think this is a good year for the Gatekeeper.
Last year was a poor year for them.

  3. They are all intent on feeding, aren't they? As Homer Simpson would say "Can't talk. Eating."

  4. Have seen some beautiful butterflies Roy including Red Admirals, but didn't get the chance to photograph them. Your images as always are wonderful and it's been great to see the Gatekeeper up close like this.
