Warblers Return

The Whitethroat - A welcome Spring arrival, (using the term Spring loosely this year of course.)
From a photography point of view, its a case of "Now you see me, now you don't".
Quite infuriatingly it will sit in the middle of a hedge or more often than not, keep to the opposite side of the hedge to where you are and sing and chatter away. You get the general impression that he is laughing at you. Just occasionally it will hop into the open or partially in the open and take a quick look at you. If you have the camera up and ready you may just be fortunate to get off a couple of shots.

The Sedge Warbler - Equally as uncooperative for photography purposes another Spring arrival that will sit in the middle of reeds or dense waterside hedgerow and chatter away out of sight.

  2. Well done managing to capture two difficult to photograph species Roy, the Whitethroat amongst the brambles is a lovely series :-)

  3. Ihanat kuvat! Miten kerkesit ottamaan kuvia? Nämä linnut on niin nopeita liikkumaan. Kerttuja on tosi vaikea tunnistaa.

  4. It certainly does seem like they're laughing at times doesn't it! You have some lovely photos though :)

  5. There was one posing elegantly for me for about 15 minutes at RSPB Langford a couple of years ago. Didn't have my camera of course. It knew...

  7. Lovely first shots of the Whitethroat Roy....It's annoying how they manage to 'not quite show' when they first arrive but give them a couple of weeks to settle and they'll be a little braver...hopefully?...[;o)

the pictures look great, the birds so between the branches and the trees so it has a nice contrast

  12. Hey Roy... Surely can be frustrating when you have the bird in your lens then poof it has moved.
I have been trying to get some Warblers here and delete most. It is surprising the tiny branch or blade of grass that I don't see when I have the subject in the lens. I think you did great..you always do. ;)

    1. Thanks GG.
Spot focussing is the answer to get some chance of getting a shot.

A warbler see I never really not and you let him see very pretty freely.
Really beautiful pictures of this cheerful sparrow.
