Male Reed Bunting

A male Reed Bunting perched in a Hazel Bush.
The sunlight really shows up the colouring on this male. He is beginning to show the darker colours which will be at its best in Spring.

  1. Hi Roy,

At first: a very happy 2016! Your Reed bunting is lovely in the sunshine, beautiful and soft light. I also like your long-tailed tits, they are always so cute and funny.

I hope to enjoy your lovely photo's and walks also in 2016!

    Kind regards,
    Marianne

  4. I never see them so open, they are normally tucked well back in the tree when I see them in the willows and alders around Farndon

  6. Cracking shots Roy. I am nearly home now from my trip to Malawi and Zambia, just waiting at Heathrow for my flight this afternoon but thanks for leaving me all the comments when I was away.

  10. I see you are still managing to get out and take some wonderful photos of birds, had planed to go out on 1st of Jan , just to dark ad wet. I was lucky with the birds on the pond, anything up in a tree just comes out as a black blob as the light is so bad !

  14. I enjoy your blog partly because they are different birds than I see in the states. Makes me want to hop on a plane and go birding in England! Lovely bird!
