Remaining Odonata

Drawing toward the close of the Odonata season here are a few I shot very recently.

Black-tailed Skimmer

Migrant Hawker

This female Southern Hawker thought it was a good place to try and lay eggs, my shoe.

  3. Brilliant shot of the broody hawker! I love how these pics show the colour contrast between common darters and ruddy darters. Speaking of which the common darters are pretty hardy and I would expect to see for a little while yet.

  4. Lovely shots Roy. Must admit I have taken many pictures of the dragonflies/damselflies, I have seen them but they seem to be too busy flying around, chasing each other around. Maybe the smell of your feet confused the lady ;-)

  6. A great variety of shots Mr Norris and interesting behaviour from the rather confused Southern Hawker female. Also well done getting some pics of ruddy darters as well, especially as I have found them very hard to find up here this year.

  9. Hey Roy... Well you do have a way of attracting things to you don't you. Butterflies, dragonflies, wow when I get near they take off :}
    I love that second one, such beautiful colors.
