Blue on Pink

Around a small pond (See below) in a field, I found several Common Blue butterflies pitching on Willowherb. Not listed as one of its main foodplants, but the butterflies appeared to be feeding well.

Common Blues live in small discreet colonies and where this pond was located in the corner of a field was an ideal spot.

This small stagnant pond below doesn't really look much, but it is surprising the insect life it produced in a short period of observation.

  1. Good to see that the Common Blues are still about in your part of the country Roy, and well done getting these pics. Water is so important for wildlife isn't it.

    Hope you are well :-)
