Blue on Pink


Around a small pond (See below) in a field, I found several Common Blue butterflies pitching on Willowherb. Not listed as one of its main foodplants, but the butterflies appeared to be feeding well.

Common Blues live in small discreet colonies and where this pond was located in the corner of a field was an ideal spot.












This small stagnant pond below doesn't really look much, but it is surprising the insect life it produced in a short period of observation.

      Yes well, but could do with some better weather as its rain on and off most days now, at least plenty of water though.{:))

  8. Hey Roy... That pink plant looks like what we have here called Purple Loosestrife which grows in wet land area's too!

    Very nice shots of the Blue on the pink blooms. Still jealous of those blue butterflies you see! :}
