Migrant Hawker - Riding out the Storm

A female Migrant Hawker Dragonfly.
The Migrant is the only Hawker that you are likely to find still flying in November, so true to form this one turned up and obligingly pitched on a bush in front of me.

I am amazed they are still around after the weather we have had recently.

  2. I often wonder where they hide during our bad weather, only to reappear at the hint of sunshine.
    Lovely shot Roy.

  3. Nice find Roy. It always amazes me how wildlife manages to survive in the harshest of conditions and then pops up as good as new the next day...[;o)

  8. We had an unusually warm day today and I saw a large dragon fly by, but I couldn't ID it.

  9. Still warmth in the Sun but temps here are forecast to stay in single figures for the next week so I don't think I will be seeing many dragons.
You captured that one beautifully framed by the leaf.

  11. Ho geeezz!
I would have had a ball to see this female land in front of me at this time of year!
They might still be around but I don't see them anymore.
And with all this rain, I wonder if we will even see darters left...
Usually 2 are still seen until december: S; meridionale and S. striolatum!
    Lovely pic, Roy!
