More Marbled

My latest images of the emerging Marbled White Butterfly.

Unfortunately these males are still on the move all the time and I can't get close enough for more detailed shots. They pitch (usually in a concealed position in long grass) for no longer than 2 seconds and are on the move again.
I'm having to use a 300mm Micro Four Thirds lens (which equates to a 600mm DSLR lens) to get these shots at the moment.

The males slow up eventually after a week or two and pitch for much longer.

  12. Whatever the distance and lens used this species is very flighty, so very well done Roy.

I spent 3 hours on the North Downs yesterday am and the Marbled White was the most obvious species on the wing ... very little else apart from a few Skippers and Meadow Browns. Everyone I came in contact with wanted to know where all the 'flutters' are? If the sunny weather continues then no doubt the next month might answer that question.
