Blackcap

My first Blackcap images of the year. These images are of the male of the species.

I continue to revisit a specific area of the Parkland that I walk regularly, which is becoming quite productive for bird sightings. Although it is an area where I observe a lot over the course of the 12 months, I think due to the sudden influx of migrating birdlife it is more populated than usual.

Lumix GH3. 100-300mm lens. 1/800 at f5.1 - 214mm(428) ISO200

  1. That first photo of the blackcap with the blackthorn blossom is just gorgeous. You should produce a calendar!

  5. Lovely crisp shots Roy. I can't get near one at the moment. Did you manual focus on any of those shots with all the twigs?

    1. Thanks Jen.
No the GH3 with a 100-300mm lens picked them out OK without me having to result to manual focus.

  7. Delightful photos Roy, especially the first one. I had them in the garden over the winter but didn't manage any decent photos this time.

  10. Very nice! Reminds me of our Catbird. It's great that you have found an area where you can find lots of birds. We certainly enjoy the photos.

  11. Lovely shots of the Blackcap Roy. I had two male Blackcaps in my garden for a few days, lovely to see them and one of them was ringed.
