The Treecreeper Returns

Yes it is another Treecreeper. It could be the same one as previously observed on part of my Lockdown walk. In fact there were two initially, but one drove the other off before I could get close enough to the tree. The location is a small nature reserve alongside the main river that runs through the town. It is low lying and you can only walk around it on a raised wooden walkway. Unfortunately I couldn't get any closer to the bird due to a couple of 'Members of the Public' being in the way, as is often the case during lockdown.

 

By The Riverside

The riverside is a good place for birds to find food during Winter, mainly insects and the like. During a recent Lockdown Walk I stopped and observed across a small river which is lined on one side by small trees and vegetation. 

The first bird observed below appeared quite small and not immediately identified.

I had forgotten the recent lesson I learned a month ago (and a few years ago) that some Chiffchaffs do remain in England during the Winter months. Having sought clarification from and expert it was confirmed as a Chiffchaff. I think I was confused by the fact that it was quite small and had pronounced greenish/yellow areas on its plumage.

It was certainly much brighter than the previous Winter Chiffchaff I had observed in Radipole lake back in early January.

The other bird observed across the lake even I can immediately recognise. 

A Wren was bobbing along the vegetation next to the waters edge.

Both these birds did repeat performances for me over the next half hour.

I shall revisit to get some better shots.

 

A Bird in the Bush - Lockdown Walk

Images of birds in bushes rather than close up may not be to everyone's taste.

It is where they spend much of their time especially during inclement weather.

Although none of the species I observed on this lockdown walk was out of the ordinary, they still I believe were worth photographing.

Artistic Licence - Single Image Post

There were so many twigs and branches getting in the way of this shot of the Long-tailed Tit, I had to apply some artistic licence to centre on the bird. These occasions never occur in the open.

 

Lockdown Walk

An extended Lockdown Walk produced a variety of images, but nothing out of the ordinary on this occasion.

A Blackbird silhouette.

A sign of Spring coming?

Not really, as you can find Lesser Celandines most of the Winter.

It is nice to see some colour though.

One of a pair that are regularly seen in the same waterlogged meadow.

Mr Robin has always got something to say.

Extending the walk I was able to observe what was occupying the large strip of flooded common land on the edge of the town.

There is a river there in the first image running from left to right.

Along the edge of the common land were several Long-tailed Tits chasing each other around the tree branches. (Spring must be coming soon)

A roadside Daffodil is always a pleasure to find.
